AgriWebb allows you to import CSV files of the individual animals on your farm. The best way to import these animals is to export a separate CSV for each breed to make it easier when importing. Each CSV can only contain either Sheep or Cattle.
What is a CSV File?
A CSV (comma-separated values) is a plain text file. Each row of the text file represents a set of information. Data is represented in a similar way (row by row) but the key thing is that the format of the file is completely different to an excel spreadsheet.
If exported and downloaded from your Indicator it will be a CSV file.
If the file is opened or created as an excel spreadsheet (.xlsx). Follow the steps to Save as a CSV File.
File > Save As > Change the File Format to (.csv)
TIPS Before Importing Animals
Have you setup your Enterprises & Management Groups?
Your CSV can only contain either Sheep or Cattle.
If you don’t have an exported CSV you can download the AgriWebb animal import template file to get started. Fill in the template on Excel with your animals and then export the document as a CSV file to import into AgriWebb.
Understanding the CSV Template
Mandatory Columns:
Breed - see how to set up your farm breeds here.
Age Class - see how age classes are managed here.
Date of Birth
For the mature age classes Ewe, Maiden Ewe, Ram, Bull, Steer, Cow, Heifer, and Yearling, you may choose "year" for date of birth or choose "Do not track"; otherwise a "day" or "month" of birth is required.
NOTE: In the UK, a specific DOB is required for government registration purposes.
Tags:
There is a tag section where you can choose the tag type(s) you want to add to your individuals. See Tagging Records article for the definitions on tag types available per species and country.
Recommended Columns:
Location - what paddock they're in or going to be in. NOTE: this can be updated later while the animals are still on your account
Weight
Last Weighed Date
Date on Farm - If the Date on Farm (dd/mm/yyyy) is not specified it will default to the animal's Date of Birth.

Additional Columns:
Name
Tattoo
Brand
Hide Color
Sire Visual ID
Sire EID
Sire Name
Dam Visual ID
Dam EID
NOTE: All these records can be changed by Importing Animal Updates from CSV.

Upload your CSV
On the Web App, select the Livestock section from the navigation panel on the left
On the Individuals tab at the top of the page, select Add Animal in the top right, and then Import.
Choose sheep or cattle.
On the Import CSV page, choose Start in the bottom left corner.
Select Upload from computer or drag and drop the csv file into the box.
Map the Columns to Import
We will attempt to identify all the columns in your CSV document and match them with AgriWebb animal properties. Incase there are columns we don’t recognise, you can review the mapping and make changes.
The required columns for importing are Breed, Date of Birth, and Age Class. Note: These columns determine the Age Class of the animals and allow AgriWebb to auto age your stock. For further information on how this is calculated see Livestock Age Classes.
For each animal column you wish to import that has not been automatically mapped, you can choose one of the following input methods.
Additional columns can also be imported such as VID, EID, Date on Farm, Tag Colour, Tattoo, Brand, Weight, Last Weighed Date, Dam and Sire EID's and VID's.
Fix Errors
If we are unable to identify any values in your CSV you will be able to provide a valid value. This could be due to missing or invalid data in your CSV. In the below example Breed and Last Weighed Date were empty.
Preview and Complete
You will be shown a small preview of your data to be imported. If all the columns look correct you can select Import to create your animals. You will be returned to the animal list to view them.
Review conflicts with existing animals
You will not be able to import any animals in your CSV that have an EID or VID that matches an animal already in AgriWebb. You will be able to review these animals before proceeding with the Import. If the conflict is a mistake you can update your CSV and import it again.
Resolve conflicts within your CSV
As you cannot have duplicate EIDs / VIDs in AgriWebb, we will identify any conflicts in your CSV and you can choose which animals you want to import. If you identify any of the conflicts as errors in your data, you should update your CSV and upload it again.
