Agisting Livestock

Got livestock on Agistment?

There's not currently a record available for agisting livestock, however, this guide demonstrates a workaround to help you track agisted livestock in AgriWebb.

Recording your Livestock on Agistment

Create a paddock to represent the property you are agisting on the Mobile App or the Web App. Check out our Drawing a Paddock guide to learn how to create a paddock.

You may even create multiple agistment paddocks to represent different agistment contracts or to prevent livestock that were agisted separately from merging.

In order to not affect your farm's stocking rate, set the arable area of the agistment paddocks to 0 hectares/acres

total area fields

When agistment starts, move the livestock into the agistment paddock. You may want to adjust the animals Animal Unit for Mobs and Individuals plans to be 0 to prevent it effecting your current animal units on farm. You can track the agistment costs by using a Livestock treatment. Create a separate Agistment Treatment for each property you're agisting to or for each Agistment contract.

Check out our guide on Inventory Management to learn more.

Set the cost of the treatment to zero. When applying the Treatment to the agisted livestock, record the total agistment cost in the Cost section (make sure to toggle on Advanced).

Treatment Records Report

The Livestock Treatment Records Report in the AgriWebb Web App is used to track production costs for your agisted livestock.

Filter the report to show you your total costs of agistment. To learn more about customising your reports, check out our article on Reporting.

Recording Livestock Agisted on your Property

Record the livestock received on Agistment whilst accurately recording income and stocking rate on your farm with the following work around.

Mob

Add the agisted livestock and set the origin to Purchased. Set the purchase price to $0 and add lease details under Vendor Name. Add a Management Tag or enterprise/management group called Agistment so that the livestock can be filtered out in your reports. If you want to maintain an accurate stocking rate across your operation, input the agisted stock's DSE/LSU/AE.

When the Agistment contract ends, simply create a Sale or transfer-off farm record and set the price received as the income that you received for the contract.

IAM

Add the agisted livestock. You can import the number of cattle with dummy VIDs (i.e. A001-A235) if the actual tags aren't known or don't need to be tracked. Add the animals to a enterprise/management group called Agistment so that the livestock can be filtered out in your reports. If you want to maintain an accurate stocking rate across your operation, input the agisted stock's animal units.

When the Agistment contract ends, simply create a Sale or Transfer off-farm record and set the price received as the income that you received for the contract.
