Syncing the Mobile App - Best Practice

Let's stay in sync!

Automatic Sync

The AgriWebb app is designed to sync the latest records automatically when you open the app and connected to wifi or data.

When you open the app, if there are new records to sync, you will see the orange bar at the top of the home page with the number of new records. This will begin to sync automatically, however you can also tap the 'Sync Now' button to activate the sync.

Quick Check

Here is a quick checklist you can share with your team to ensure best syncing practices.

  • Is the AgriWebb app up to date?

  • Is Enable background sync turned on?

  • Is Keep awake during sync turned on?

  • If you have an iOS device, are you leaving the app open while the sync completes?

  • Are all users on the account syncing on a regular basis?

Automatic Sync Settings

To ensure the automatic sync works as expected, the following tips are strongly advised.

  1. Ensure everyone has their own user license.

It is essential that everyone has their own unique log-in. Avoid group log-ins like admin@farmname.com as these can cause conflicting records in your data. Learn how to set up more user licenses here.

  2. Toggle on "Enable background sync"

Ensure 'background sync' is turned on for all users. This is found on the mobile app under menu > settings > sync options. Ensuring 'enable background sync' is switched on will enable AgriWebb to sync so long as the app is running.

    enable background syncing option

  3. Toggle on "Keep app awake during sync"

If you have multiple farms on the account, ensure syncing all of them is a default.

  4. Keep your phone open during the sync

The sync will continue even if you close the Manual Sync Data page, however, you must keep the Mobile App running, closing the app will stop the current sync if you are using an Apple device.

  5. Make it a habit to sync

When the App recognises that it has data that hasn't been uploaded to the cloud, a banner will appear on the Home or Menu tab, press Sync Now to initiate syncing.

  6. Keep your app up-to-date

Always make sure you’re running the most up-to-date version of the app, as we usually update AgriWebb twice weekly! You can check what app version your device is running in the mobile app under Menu > Settings, it should be the same version as in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. See more instructions here

Manual Sync

You can trigger a manual sync by navigating to the menu tab > synchronise data > manual sync.

Syncing with Apple Devices

If you are using an Apple device to perform a sync, make sure you keep the app open and your phone doesn’t sleep during the sync. This is important because the iOS software does not support background syncing while apps are closed. To ensure AgriWebb syncs complete, the app must remain open and screen must remain active.

To prevent your device from sleeping during the sync, you can turn the Auto-Lock on your phone off.

Here’s how:

  1. From Settings, Open Display and Brightness

  2. Open Auto-Lock

  3. Set to Never

Now that Auto-Lock is off, let an automatic sync run or trigger a manual sync again.

Syncing with Android Devices

AgriWebb will sync whenever the devices have connection to the internet. Ensure that you have Enabled background sync.

On the Mobile App, under the Menu tab, press Settings and select Enable background sync.

Is your Mobile App up to date?

If you are having issues with syncing or it looks like inaccurate data is showing, first check that you are running the most recent App version. Check for updates on the App Store or Google Play Store and update your app to the most recent version, if available.

If the issue persists after updating the app, please contact our Farm Success team. Note that if you have the wrong or inconsistent data on your Mobile App, but the Web App is correct, then the AgriWebb team will need you to send your diagnostic data from the mobile for review.
