Setting up your paddocks to enable cell or strip grazing is something you can achieve with our paddock cell tool. This will allow for you to replicate any intensive grazing strategy on your property in AgriWebb!
To create cells within a paddock you must have access to the Grazing Planner and one of the following user roles: full farm user, manager or administrator.
All user levels will be able to move livestock into the cells once they are created.
If you are unsure if you have this feature available, please contact our Customer Support Team for more information.
Setting Up Your Cells
To set-up your cells you will need to navigate to the Paddocks tab on your left hand menu bar.
Once in the Paddocks tab you will then need to select the desired paddock, click on it to bring up the paddock dialogue page.
In the Paddock Dialogue page seen above you will see the paddock records button in the top right hand corner, click on this and you will find the Create/Manage Cells option.
Once you are in the Create/Mange Cell Record page you will then see the below fields, you will be able to set the cell area and set specific names if needed.
When adding cells it is important to note that the paddock selected counts as a cell (listed as remaining cell). So, if you are wanting to divide a paddock into 5 cells, you only need to add 4 cells, as pictured above.
In the Paddock Dialogue you will now see a Cell Grazing Tab, below the key paddock data areas. In here you will be able to view the various cells that have been set up and the animals listed once they have been moved in.
In the paddock's tab you will also see the Cells listed
Archiving Cells
If you have finished using the cells you have drawn out you will need to click back into the Paddock Dialogue
Once back in the Paddock Dialogue navigate to the Create Paddock Record button in the top right hand corner and select Create/Manage Cells.
You will then see your Archivable Cell's in the below image with the Archive button next to them on the right hand side.
Any data from these cells will still be found under the paddock reports in your Reports section even after archiving has taken place.
Assessing Grazing Performance with the Grazing Chart
When viewing the Grazing Chart report, if you have split the paddock into cells for grazing, you will see this reflected in the report.
Hover over the green bars to view information on how many days grazed and which cells the livestock were in.
You can use this report to gather insights into the performance of your pastures over time. When reviewing how your pastures have performed, consider the following:
Was cell grazing ‘x’ paddock(s) effective? What were the results?
What has the impact of cell grazing had on the growth of the livestock?
Did they have sufficient weight gain?
Did you have to provide supplemental feed at any point?
What impact has cell grazing had on the pastures?
Were you able to graze them for longer?
Have they bounced back effectively?
Have you needed to intervene with any pasture improvement?
