Our Live Session feature allows you to create records against your animals as they come through the chute/crush in real time.
If you have EID readers and weigh heads, these can also be connected to make this process quicker and easier.
See our compatible hardware devices here!
You can use the live session to record a single step, such as a weight or a treatment, but you can also create templates to carry out multiple steps together, such as weight, treatment and condition score.
See more information on our templates here:
Starting a Live Session
Begin by opening up the mobile app and head to Livestock then Start Live Session
Select your species and then you will see this screen where you can select a quick record or choose from an existing template you've made or create a new one.
Preparing a Session
Each time a session is launched, the setup page will be shown. The steps being performed and additional setup information can be entered on the setup page.
For example, when adding animals in a live session, you can select the species, breed, visual ID, and tag input methods for the animals being processed.
Tap Connect Hardware to connect or pair with your hardware.
Select Queue Animals if the current animal has incomplete records, if you wish to queue your animals with unfinished records. Leave it unticked if you wish to move on to each new animal immediately after scanning. See here for further information.
Use the Draft section to add in your drafting options. You can select manual draft locations or draft by weight. You can manually change the draft option during a session as each animal is scanned. For further details, check out this article.
If you're running a live session from a Template, you can rearrange the steps in the setup if needed and also add in a step:
Once you're happy, you can press Start Session or Run Later to use another time.
During the Session
Once you start the session, you can either scan an animal with a connected EID reader or select an animal manually.
In our new live session view you have the easy access menu to the left-hand side, which is collapsible by clicking the arrow in the bottom left.
We recomend to use landscape mode when using an iPad or a Tablet for the best viewing experience.
When you have scanned or manually searched for an animal the 'Animal Card' will appear. This will display important information that is recorded against the animal that you have scanned.
If there is more information that you need to make a decision crush side such as a weight graph and animal history, clicking the Full profile button will show you more data about the animal in the crush.
If you need to add an ad hoc record, ignore the animal or add a note - you can now do this from the easy access menu on the left-hand side. You can also press View Current Status to see a summary of the session so far.
Any hardware adjustments you need to make can be handled in here as well, towards the bottom under Update Hardware Connection.
All records will be automatically saved as soon as you scan the next animal. You can skip a scanned animal by tapping Ignore this animal to the left in the menu. No records will be created for the ignored animal.
Completing the Live Session
Once you have gone through all the animals, press Finish in the top left corner to end the session.
You will then find a summary of what you have carried out and also the session data.
After completing a session, you can review both the Session Summary and Session Data.
The Summary tab provides a high-level overview, including the number of animals scanned, recorded activities (based on template steps and any ad hoc entries), and drafting details.
The Session Data tab offers a detailed view of each record applied to each animal scanned in the session. From here, you can customise the displayed information using the Configure Table button, filter results with the search bar, or add new records directly by selecting specific animals.
