The Greenhouse Accounting Framework gives you the ability to calculate your carbon emissions from on farm operations by collecting data from your livestock and cropping records. This can be used to estimate greenhouse gas emissions, establish baseline emissions calculations, and track results over time.
This product incorporates the EAP Calculator Engine open-source code, developed and maintained by Agricultural Innovation Australia Ltd. Your submission is processed within AgriWebb using this code to produce an emissions profile for your property. For more information see aiaeap.com. Free access to AIA’s open-source code is supported by the Australian Government through funding from the Improving Consistency of On-Farm Emissions Estimates Program.
Accessing the Framework
To access the Greenhouse Accounting Framework you will need to be on the AgriWebb Web Portal > Navigate to Reports and you will find the sustainability banner at the top of the screen.

Once you have clicked into the Sustainability tab you will then find the Greenhouse Accounting Framework.
Using the Framework
You will see a button under your active program submissions that says “Start new submission”.
You will then be asked to fill out the New Calculation prompts as seen below.
Pre-filled livestock data
AgriWebb can populate the submission straight from your records including, births, sales, purchases, transfers, deaths, age changes and cohort updates.
Choose “Yes, pre-fill it for me” when prompted to use this.
Animals are grouped into cohorts by age class (e.g. cows, heifers, steers) and enterprise type (breeding or trading). You can rename, remove or add cohorts within a submission, this won’t affect your underlying AgriWebb records.

Understanding cohorts
Cohorts group animals that are managed the same way during the reporting period, for example, all breeder cows or 2024-drop heifers.
AgriWebb automatically creates cohorts using:
Age class (e.g., Heifers, Cows, Steers)
Enterprise (e.g., Breeder, Trading), if available
Management groups aren’t included in pre-fill. Create or rename cohorts if you want to review data that way.
You can rename, remove, or add cohorts in the form. This won’t change records in AgriWebb itself.
If animals or records are missing, add or correct them in the AgriWebb, sync, then refresh the submission.
Completing the form with Pre-Fill
AgriWebb pre-fills the submission form using existing records to save time, but you must still review and attest to the accuracy of all data before submitting.
How Pre-Fill Works
Pre-fill pulls in existing livestock records from your AgriWebb account including
Births
Sales
Purchases
Transfers on/off
Deaths
Age In/Out
Cohort changes
Livestock are grouped into cohorts for easier review (see more info above ).
It is best to open each cohort and review the data that has been pre-filled for accuracy. Do this by selecting the Edit button at the end of the row.
If data needs to be changed we recommend recording or editing the records in the AgriWebb and then refreshing the submission form.
If needed you can also add records in the submission form but this data will not be available in AgriWebb for further decision-making.
From here finish the submission by adding in data manually for following areas, these being Cultivation Cycles, Savannah Burning, Vegetation, Energy and Allocations.
Results
Review and attest to your data before submitting. If something needs correcting, update the underlying records in AgriWebb and refresh the submission, rather than editing only within the calculator that keeps your submission consistent with your farm records.
Submitting produces your emissions profile within AgriWebb.

We’ve updated how your farm data is calculated. If you’ve run a calculation before, you may notice:
Beef emissions are essentially unchanged.
Sheep emissions are noticeably lower. In the previous version, some sheep inputs, such as how lambing and ewe numbers were applied through the year, were calculated in a way that overstated emissions. The new engine calculates these correctly.
This is an improvement in accuracy. Your farm hasn’t changed, the way the figures are calculated has.

What is AIA, and the EAP Calculator Engine?

Why are my sheep emissions lower than last time?
The previous version calculated some sheep inputs, such as how lambing and ewe numbers were counted across the seasons, in a way that overstated emissions. The new engine calculates these correctly, so your sheep figures are more accurate. Nothing about your flock has changed.
Are my beef numbers affected?
No meaningful change, beef results match the previous engine closely. I updated a record but the calculation didn’t change, why? Edits to your records flow through when you refresh the submission. Update the record in AgriWebb, then refresh or re-pre-fill the submission to pick up the change.
