Moving mobs between farms isn’t yet a feature, but it is planned on our product roadmap. You can vote on the feature on our AgriWebb Ideas Portal to increase its priority and stay up to date on its launch. In the meantime, check out these workarounds to move mobs between farms.
Follow this guide to learn which workaround will be best suited for your operation and the key things to know for each option. Three workaround options are available:
- Transfer paddocks
- Sale and purchase records
- Merge farms
If you are frequently moving stock between farms and wish to retain some history, setting up transfer paddocks on your farm is the best option.
Create transfer paddocks on both farms (Transfer 1 and Transfer 2). Set the Paddock area to 0ha to preserve stocking rate accuracy. To transfer stock between farms, move a mob into the transfer paddock from Farm A.
On Farm B, create the mob in Transfer 2 paddock and put it into rotation on-farm. If you are moving the mob back to Farm A, move it into Transfer 2 paddock and out into rotation from Transfer 1 paddock on Farm A.
Things to be aware of for the Transfer Paddocks workaround:
- Mob history remains mostly intact, with gaps for both mobs when they are in the transfer paddocks.
Sale and Purchase Records
This option is best for infrequent transfers.
To transfer stock, create a Sale Record for the mob you wish to move for $0 on Farm A. Then, add the mob into Farm B and set the purchase price to $0. If you want to move stock back to Farm A, you can delete the original Sale Record to recreate the mob.
When you create the sale or purchase record, you can fill in the Buyer/Seller field with ‘Transfer’. This will allow you to filter out the transfers in your Sale records and Purchase records reports.
Things to be aware of for the Sale and Purchase Records workaround:
- Mob history cannot be transferred
- Sale and Purchase records marked as ‘Transfer’ will need to be filtered out of your reports.
Merging farms involves combining your farms into one on AgriWebb. This means you would be able to access all your farms from the Farm Map. Once a Farm Merge is completed, paddocks can be given a prefix to indicate which farm they are part of, to assist with reporting.
E.g. A- Back paddock. With this prefix, you can filter your reports to view only paddocks from Farm A, simply click Filter All Columns and type A- to view all paddocks on Farm A.
Alternatively, change the Description field of your paddocks to indicate which farm they are a part of. This option allows you to group your paddocks by description and then use the filter function to filter for additional characteristics.
Things to be aware of for the Merge Farms workaround:
- Retain all mob and paddock history from both farms
- Utilise filter functions in your reports to view farm data individually
- Adding a prefix for all paddocks
Merging Farms can only be completed by our Development Team, make sure you get in touch with our Farm Success Team to get started.
